Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Revive ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Revive mobile application (the "App").

1. No Accounts — You Use Revive Anonymously

Revive does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or other login credentials. When you first open the App, we generate an anonymous, random user ID for your device using Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This ID lets us associate your saved plants and usage with your device without identifying you personally.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

• Plant photos: When you submit a photo for diagnosis, the App sends it to our backend (Firebase Cloud Functions), which forwards it to the OpenAI API to generate your diagnosis and rescue plan. Photos are processed to provide this feature and are handled as described in Section 3 below.
• My Plants data: If you save a plant to your collection, we store related information (such as the plant's photos, diagnosis history, and care reminders) in Firestore, associated with your anonymous user ID.
• Anonymous usage and analytics data: We collect basic, anonymous usage data — such as which features are used, app performance, and crash reports — to help us understand how the App is used and to improve it. This data is tied to your anonymous ID, not to your identity.
• Subscription and purchase data: If you subscribe, purchase transactions are processed by Apple's App Store and managed through RevenueCat. We receive subscription status information (e.g., active, expired, trial) but do not receive your payment card details.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

• Generate AI-powered plant diagnoses and rescue plans via the OpenAI API
• Maintain your My Plants collection, diagnosis history, and care reminders
• Operate, maintain, and improve the App's features and reliability
• Understand anonymous, aggregate usage trends
• Manage and verify your subscription status
• Respond to support requests sent to our contact email

4. Third-Party Services

Revive relies on the following third-party services to operate, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

• OpenAI: Plant photos you submit are sent to the OpenAI API to generate your diagnosis and care recommendations.
• Firebase (Google): Provides Anonymous Authentication (your anonymous user ID), Firestore (storing your plants and usage data), and may provide basic analytics and crash reporting.
• RevenueCat: Manages and verifies subscription purchases and status.
• Apple App Store: Processes all subscription payments and billing.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your information. We share data only with the third-party service providers described above, as necessary to operate the App, or if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

6. Data Retention

We retain your plant photos, My Plants data, and anonymous usage data for as long as needed to provide the App's features, or until you request deletion. Because Revive does not use accounts, we identify your data solely by your anonymous device ID.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, or request deletion of, the data associated with your anonymous user ID. Because we do not collect names or emails, we may ask you to provide your anonymous user ID (available in the App's settings, if applicable) to help us locate your data. You can also manage app permissions (such as camera, photo library, and notifications) at any time in your device's Settings app. Deleting the App from your device does not automatically delete data already stored in Firestore — contact us to request deletion.

8. Children's Privacy

Revive is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including those provided by Firebase and OpenAI — to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Our third-party providers (including OpenAI and Firebase/Google) may process and store data on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the effective date of the latest revision at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
